The name Serendipity, meaning “finding something good without looking for it,” holds a deeper meaning for Gennevieve, especially given the shop’s challenging start. Opening its doors just days before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, SerendipityXIX faced hurdles that would have daunted even the most experienced entrepreneurs. Yet, with the unwavering support of the local community and Genevieve’s relentless drive, the shop not only survived but thrived. Within just six months, SerendipityXIX expanded, taking over the building next door and growing its offerings to include everything from fashionable women’s clothing and artisan-made accessories to one-of-a-kind home décor and men’s gifts.
Fast forward to 2024, and SerendipityXIX has achieved an incredible milestone: winning the prestigious ‘Best of the Best Accessory Shop 2024’ award. With approximately 210,000 small businesses in South Jersey, the odds of winning were incredibly slim, a mere 0.000482%. Yet, SerendipityXIX managed to stand out among the competition, a testament to Genevieve’s passion and the loyal customer base she has cultivated.
